Generic Requirements for SAPS Security Guard Vacancies
Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

South African citizen
-
Senior Certificate (Grade 12)

Proficient in at least two official languages, including English

No criminal or departmental convictions, or pending cases

Willingness to undergo SAPS vetting and security screening

Demonstrated competency in post-specific security functions

Relevant security-related training will be an advantage

Grade 12 or NCV (NQF Level 4) recorded on the National Learner Record Database

Valid PSIRA registration

Grade C Security Certificate

Not declared unfit to possess a firearm

Diploma or Degree in Security Management will be an advantage

Valid driver’s licence for a light motor vehicle (advantage)

Core Functions of SAPS Security Guards
Security Guards appointed to SAPS will be responsible for access control and on-site security duties, including:

Executing access control in line with the Control of Access to Public Premises and Vehicles Act

Verifying identification of SAPS members, visitors, contractors, and maintenance staff

Issuing and collecting visitor access cards

Maintaining visitor and access registers
-
Inspecting suppliers, articles, vehicles, and equipment entering premises
-
Controlling admission of vehicles and equipment
-
Supervising cleaners and maintenance staff from a security perspective
-
Monitoring security equipment and facilities and responding to issues
-
Reporting security risks or deficiencies to senior security personnel

Assisting security officers with operational duties

Working shifts and irregular hours as required
