Minimum Requirements

Applicants for the Unitrans Ultra-heavy Motor Vehicle Driver job must meet the following criteria:

Grade 12 / National Certificate
Valid Code EC (Code 14) driver’s licence
Valid Professional Driving Permit (PrDP)
Minimum of three years’ experience driving ultra-heavy vehicles
Minimum of three years’ experience driving superlink, interlink, or combination vehicles
Clean criminal record
Medically fit
Own reliable transport to and from work
Willingness to work weekends and public holidays

Skills and Knowledge Required

Successful candidates must demonstrate knowledge of:

Defensive driving techniques
Emergency and defect reporting procedures
Vehicle inspections and fire extinguisher operation
Vehicle loading and offloading techniques

Duties and Responsibilities

Candidates appointed to the Unitrans Ultra-heavy Motor Vehicle Driver job will be responsible for:

Preparing vehicles before trips and operating ultra-heavy-duty vehicles safely
Loading, transporting, and offloading goods according to procedures
Handling required trip documentation and ancillary duties
Maintaining housekeeping standards for vehicles, PPE, and uniforms
Following all reasonable instructions from supervisors
Working shifts, weekends, and public holidays as required
Maintaining a safe driving record and compliance with company policies
